It is important that you understand two important points 1. The Outbound4 program will not interfere or disrupt any program you are currently using on your computer, however some of the many thousands of programs you can install may interfere with the smooth operation of the Outbound4 program... 2. we want to help you .. they only way we can offer phone assistance is if you are using, and understand similar programs to those we use in our office.... we will ONLY offer phone support if you have your computer set up in a similar way to ours... so here is a long list of the suggestions we have... Email Program: It is recommended that you use Outlook Express (version 5.50 or later) as your email program. If you are using another email program or a web-email and it is working fine with our emails ... then t may be suitable . but if you are having problems sending your test results, of getting files from us... then we will not offer phone support unless you are using Outlook Express as your default email program and our emails are being received into your computer using this program How to set Outlook Express as the "default" Program Go to CONTROL PANEL/ INTERNET OPTIONS/PROGRAMS Your Display Name and Reply Email addresses settings should be set as YOU in Outlook Express In Outlook Express select TOOLS/ACCOUNTS/MAIL then your account should be the "default" one or should only have one account in the list.... if not delete all of those that are not yours....and make sure your mail account is the default one then highlight your account... and select "properties" You will then be able to select your "Display Name" this should be your own name..... and your "reply email address"... make sure these only refer to you.... not your family or a nickname... If you need to set the incoming or outgoing mail server names please refer to your isp to get some help with this... they should be able to help you set the "advance" settings if they need to be changed... do not ring us about this we cannot help... Please note.... for those of you that are with bigpond... there is NO bigpond email address that ends in bigpond.com.au ... it is either bigpond.com or bigpond.net.au Read Receipts: We need you to be able to send "read receipts" ... so make sure that you are using version 5.50 ....or later and make sure the option called "always send a read receipt" is clicked in tools/options/receipts Browser: We also recommend that you use Internet Explorer (version 5.0 or higher) as your browser. If you need to update these programs to the correct version... These programs are free... and if you do not have them already on your system...... check by going to start/settings/control panel/internet options/programs and selecting them as your defaults Free Email Addresses are NOT allowed: If you are accepted as an employee with Outbound Services you will NOT be allowed to use a FREE email address such as hotmail and yahoo, if you have trouble obtaining one from your isp, we are able to provide you with a outboundservices.com.au email address to use exclusively for work related emails ..... It is recommend that you obtain a regular email address from your ISP.....most people automatically have an email address provided by their ISP it is in the format of username@yourisp.com.au please contact them for instructions on how to set-up Outlook Express to receive your emails they will happily give you detailled instructions... Modem: Outbound4 and Outbound5 needs a normal dial up modem connected to your computer. Most computers come with an internal dial up modem, even if you are using a Broadband, ADSL or Cable modem you wil lprobably find you have a dial-up modem already installed. You can also use Broadband to connect to the internet but you must also have a dial-up type modem connected ... this is how Outbound4 dials the numbers for your work. The ideal configuration for Outbound4 is an: External modem connected to com2 with the Telephone plugged into rear of modem. If you cannot plug a phone into the rear of your modem then please make sure that your phone is connected to the SAME telephone line (use a telephone double adapter at the wall) Desktop Microphone: IT IS COMPULSORY FOR YOU TO CONNECT A
MICROPHONE TO YOUR COMPUTER .. Many desk standing microphones are available, you should be able to buy one for under $15.00 ... email us for a list of model numbers ..if you cannot find one at Dick Smith, Tandy or your local computer shop. Headsets: For Level 1 or 2 work a headset is not needed...but to be given Level 3 work you must have a headset. If you use a headset it must be a TELEPHONE headset. Do NOT attempt to use a modem headset as the program does not support the commands needed and the sound quality is not suitable for professional work. If you are considering buying a headset then please understand that professional headsets are expensive, you should pay around $180 for a suitable quality TELEPHONE headset... if you are considering a headset ..then please email us and ask us for a list of suitable brands. |
